Figma Meets Cursor: MCP Integration Enables Instant Design Edits, Boosting Efficiency

Cursor Talk to Figma MCP is an innovative project that integrates the Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling seamless collaboration between Cursor AI and Figma design tools. The project consists of three core modules:

  1. TypeScript-based MCP server for Figma integration,
  2. Figma plugin to facilitate communication with Cursor,
  3. WebSocket server acting as a bridge for bidirectional communication between the two systems.

The primary functionality allows Cursor AI to read detailed information from Figma design files, including document structure, layer properties, and node attributes. It also enables programmatic modifications to designs, such as:

  • Creating new elements (e.g., text, shapes),
  • Adjusting styles (colors, fonts, sizes),
  • Reorganizing layers (moving, grouping),
  • Modifying or deleting nodes in vector paths.

This integration significantly streamlines automation and collaboration in design-to-development workflows by bridging AI capabilities with real-time Figma editing, empowering teams to iterate faster and reduce manual effort.
